Alixa Garcia is co-founder and artistic director of Climbing PoeTree, her work individually and in the group has been featured in hundreds of festivals, universities, and conferences from the mainstage at Lightning in a Bottle, Eclipse, and Symbiosis music festivals to the Women’s March 2016 for over 500K people on the streets, and millions televised world-wide. She has been featured twice on the world renown T.E.D: Ideas Worth Spreading stage and has performed alongside Janelle Monae, Maxwell, Madonna, and Alicia Keys to name a few. For the past 17 years she has presented at hundreds of universities and conferences as a keynote speaker and environmental, social, and racial justice facilitator. As a visual artist, her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries both nationally and internationally. Her latest works, ‘Heroes Never Die’ and ‘Who’s Next: Up in Arms’, are currently and respectively in exhibition on the mega-screens at Times Square, New York City, and the Kunsthal Kade Museum, Netherlands. Born in Colombia and raised both there and in the US, Garcia’s words, visions, and music continue to travel the world on a mission to transform destruction with creativity.
