Winter is coming.

One cycle is ending while another waits to be born. As we slip into darkness in the northern hemisphere, we are excited to present a unique Samhain experience at the legendary Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. The Descent is an initiation into the spectral realms of magic at one of the world’s most historic and glamorous final resting places. This is a liminal time when the veils between this world and the Otherworld are thin.You are invited to surrender and drop into the cauldron of Samhain with us.

This immersive experience evokes the spirit and mythos of Samhain through symbols, sound, scent and other sensory surprises. We will travel together on a wild Irish wonder voyage (mytho-sensory immram) and celebrate the power of rest as a radical act. We will weave breathwork with story, song and communal ritual practices ~ guided by Kathy Scott (Cultural Activist of The Trailblazery, Ireland) with Anne Walsh (Singer, Sound Healer, Alchemizer). Together, we will remember the ancestors, honour our descendants and claim our collective place in the world as ancestors-in-training.

In Ireland, the ancients were rooted in the seasons of the Earth and aligned with the cycles of the Cosmos. They marked these gateways with ritual and ceremony and bequeathed us with a calendar map - the Wheel of the Year. The annual cycle starts at Samhain - the vestibule into the darker half of the year. This ancient pagan fire festival has its roots in Ireland, inspiring Halloween and All Hallows Eve and shares similarities with the indigenous Mexican festival Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Samhain is the season of death and renewal governed by the Great Crone Goddess, the Cailleach - the divine hag. Also known as the Witches New Year, Samhain is an alchemical time of transformation and transmutation.

These high holy (hallowed) days around the portal of Samhain are an invitation into a deeper mythic relationship with the cycle of Creation - the womb tomb. Life and death merge and the seen and unseen commune, opening a gateway to deep inner wisdom and guidance.This time of hibernation reflects the cues and clues of the wild world which draws deep within. This is a potent opportunity to purge and release all that rots and no longer serves us so that we can regenerate and rise, together.
