The Trailblazery presents Moon Medicine – a monthly gathering for women to coincide with the Full Moon cycle of 2019. This is an invitation for women who are ready to harness their inner power and reclaim their wild feminine nature. Our next gathering takes place on Wednesday Aug 14 with host Kathy Scott and guest luminaries Laura Murphy {IMBAS}, Melanie Lynch {Herstory} and Susie Q {Singer/Songwriter} illuminating the pathways and practices of the great priestesses, queens and sovereign women throughout Irish Mysticism and Mythology. Together we will explore how this rich legacy can help us to reclaim our sovereignty and queendom in our contemporary lives today. This Full Moon gathering weaves a range of potent teachings with energy medicine, astro insights, movement, meditation, live music and nourishing self care practices .

Laura will guide us through the mystical practices of IMBAS from the Celtic wisdom tradition. IMBAS is the Irish word for inspiration. It is derived from the ancient concept Imbas Forosnai which means Knowledge which Illuminates. It is the mythical source of poetic inspiration and healing in ancient Ireland. As well as being a gift of the Celtic Gods, it was at the heart of the practice of ‘filidecht’, the sacred poetic tradition of Ireland. IMBAS influenced Ireland’s Joan of Arc, Maude Gonne, WB Yeats, Ella Young and AE who practiced ritual, visualisation and meditation to access IMBAS in order to facilitate psychological and spiritual transformation. IMBAS is the secret of the Celtic imagination and Laura will teach us how to reawaken the spirit of IMBAS and access deep states of healing, creativity and flow.

Melanie will guide us through the stories of some of the great sovereign women in our shared mythology who carried the flame. Melanie is the founder of the Irish Herstory Movement which tells the stories of contemporary, mythic and historical women. Herstory is inspired by the discovery that in contrast to the handful of women taught on the Irish school curriculum, there are over one thousand inspirational female role models featured in the Dictionary of Irish Biography. History has censored women’s stories in the past. The Herstory programme aims to change that and features an annual International Herstory Light Festival, Herstory TV Series, Blazing a Trail exhibition for the Irish Embassy network, Herstory Salon Series, and a schools education programme.

Susie Q will share some songs with us from her forth coming debut album Into the Sea.

Meet our August Guest Luminaries

About Laura : Laura is a poet, healer and award-winning communications strategist. She supports the realisation of creative potential through the revival of IMBAS, a new interpretation of an ancient sensory, alchemical process that empowers us to live our purpose and prosper. After discovering a natural healing ability at 14, which coincided with the writing of her first poem, a lifelong journey of self-discovery began. Since then, she’s been exploring the soul through spirituality, science and her Irish heritage while simultaneously developing communications strategies for some of Ireland’s best-loved brands. In 2013, she pilgrimaged on a re-discovered ancient Celtic pathway that connects many sacred sites of Ireland. Here, she discovered IMBAS. She became a mother in 2017 which was followed by the most beautiful but one of the toughest times of her life. With a heart cracked open and heightened intuition, an enduring creative flow emerged. Her seemingly disparate explorations to that point merged into one powerful insight and a unique body of work.  She understood that her purpose in life was to help people to prosper amid the challenges of modern living through the revival of IMBAS. She has just finished writing her first book, called IMBAS, The Magic of Light.

About Melanie : Melanie is a social entrepreneur and and award-winning creative with a passion for justice, equality and storytelling. Starting a degree in Mathematics & Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin, she decided to take a detour and enrolled in art college, leading to a career working for some of the world's best advertising agencies. The advertising industry is a strange place for a born socialist, but as Steve Jobs once said, ‘You can’t join the dots looking forward, only looking back.’ In 2014 she found herself in Kenya, where some soul searching sparked a new career direction that would enable her to apply her creativity and communications skills for the good of humanity.  Back home in Ireland, she became Creative Director of the inaugural Heart of Ireland (Hi) Festival. Working with Hi Festival Founder Maria Bourke (also her Mum!), the Heart of lreland is a celebration of real people and the real Ireland. During the Hi Festival, a number of discoveries inspired the inception of Herstory and the rest is history, or rather herstory! In her free time, Melanie loves swimming in the sea, hiking, dancing, marching, yoga, meditation, reading, and spontaneous adventures with her soul sisters

About Susie: Susie Q, otherwise known as Susan Quirke, is a musician, singer, song-writer, co-producer and recording artist. She is also a meditation teacher, a holder of mass meditation experiences, and a multi award-winning social entrepreneur for her work in the field of mental health. Since launching her first music video 'Home' in January 2018, she has been featured on national radio and in media outlets such as Hotpress, the Sunday Independent, Irish Times, and on The Irish Times Róisín Meets podcast. She has performed at the Electric Picnic and Body&Soul festivals and for figures such as the Dalai Lama and the President of Ireland. She also runs one-to-one healing sessions from her ‘Soul Medicine’ centre in Lahinch, Co. Clare.

Kathy Scott has been traveling the world as a passionate student and brave pioneer of practices that bring people into intimate contact with their creativity and power. As a teacher, she beautifully weaves together all that she has gathered into a rich and generous offering. This is a deeply nourishing and powerful brew, especially for women

Annie Ryan, Artistic Director Corn Exchange

Kathy Scott creates an utterly transcendent yoga experience.  I attended her recent Rising Feminine Medicine Yoga Programme and it exceeded any expectations that I might have had on a mental, emotional, energetic and deeply feminine level.  Her classes are packed full of wisdom, kindness, practical yoga asanas and meditative exercises that flowed off the mat with me and seamlessly threaded into my days for the rest of the week.  Kathy elegantly weaves a powerful depth and breath of experience into all of her classes. Such a restorative weekly tonic.  I couldn't recommend her more highly.

Nadine McCarthy Performance Consultant
